Kilmore is a picturesque fishing village surrounded by unspoilt sandy beaches boasting a strong maritime tradition and is home to a number of marine related industries. Kilmore Quay marina is one of Ireland’s premier fishing and leisure harbours with 60 modern berths. It is also one of the most highly developed angling centres in Ireland with a number of licensed charter boats operating on a daily basis from the marina.
Kilmore Quay is also strategically located close to the Designated Maritime Area for Offshore Renewable Energy.
A Strategic Settlement
A key pillar of Wexford County Council’s corporate objectives is to work to strengthen and grow the economic capacity and infrastructure of County Wexford.
The current County Development Plan (2022-2028) designates Kilmore Quay as a Strategic Settlement. The plan includes an objective to “promote economic and enterprise development appropriate in scale to the settlements, such as expanding the potential of the Marine Economy and tourism in Kilmore Quay”.
Wexford County Council has zoned 11 acres of council owned lands in Kilmore Quay as industrial and has been investigating the development of an enterprise park. This is aimed at supporting appropriate maritime businesses and off-shore renewable energy industries in the South East Region. Through providing such facilities it will support economic activity and job creation while also supporting innovation/ research in the key sectors. Sites within the industrial park are currently for sale.
Kilmore Quay is 2 hours drive from Dublin and only 21 km from Rosslare Harbour. With easy access to the N/M11 and N25 via the R739 from Kilmore Quay.
