Danone is a leading global food, drink and healthcare company dedicated to bringing health through food to as many people as possible. Danone’s family of market-leading brands and services support the health of consumers and patients across different stages of their lives.

Employing over 350 people outside Wexford Town, Danone Wexford is one of the biggest manufacturing plants in the Danone specialised nutrition network and sustainably manufactures high-quality formula milk 24/7.

It is a centre of excellence for packaging capabilities and Danone Europe’s largest infant formula packing plant. Danone produces well-known brands like Aptamil, Nutrilon and Cow & Gate.

While some of the milk products packaged by Danone in Wexford are sold around Ireland, a significant proportion is destined for the export market and currently, it services over 40 different markets. These include the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belgium and increasingly further afield.

Danone’s Wexford supply point is the first baby formula production site in the world to achieve carbon neutrality, reflecting a €10 million investment in state-of-the-art green technologies. Measures include a biomass boiler powered by locally sourced sustainable wood fuel, reducing carbon emissions while supporting the local economy. Achieving this milestone involved collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, SEAI, Wexford County Council, Kilkenny Leader Partnership, and the National Biodiversity Data Centre.

This achievement contributes to Danone’s global goal of net zero carbon emissions across its value chain by 2050 and embodies its “One Planet. One Health” vision, linking the health of people and the planet. The Wexford plant now serves as a model for Danone globally, sharing best practices and inspiring other facilities on their journey toward carbon neutrality.
