We met with Michelle Scallan who works remotely from The Cube at Wexford Enterprise Centre in Wexford town.
Michelle is the founder and director of Stella Maris Foods Limited where she offers her expert seafood export consultancy services to Irish seafood companies.
“I rent a desk at the cube in the Wexford Enterprise Centre which is based on the outskirts of Wexford town. I could operate the business from home but having a facility like this is almost like having your own property. I mean as a place to bring clients and visitors the reception area here for receiving people is so professional and it gives a really good first impression.
Michelle says that they have full access to a suite of services and facilities in the building, “We also have use with boardrooms there’s a canteen area fully serviced. We have internet access full speed internet because it’s on the outskirts of Wexford town we have ample free parking also, there’s a general culture of enterprise here that lends itself to a really great working environment and a professional atmosphere that just adds to my business”.
Michelle also enjoys the separation of homeplace and workplace, “Having an office space outside of the home offers great life benefits. It’s definitely more cost-efficient to work from a shared office space because if you’re at home, you have your electricity or your computer on all day your heating if it’s chilly, you know and you’re boiling the kettle several times a day.”
